We – Georg and Angelika – manage 25 hectares of grassland, which is mown twice yearly, with our three children: Michael (born in 1993), Georg (born in 1992) and Stefanie (born in 1996). We also work four hectares of meadows in the Hollersbacher Feuchtwiesen nature reserve. These are mown once in autumn and the hay is used for bedding.
Our farm is run as an organic grassland business with dairy farming.

We currently have 20 dairy cows and around 30 Pinzgau calves. Our guests can join in with the daily milking and ask us anything they like about our work.
The milk from our cows is delivered to our dairy Pinzgau Milch where it is turned into JA Natürlich organic products.
We also have 30 mountain sheep with lambs that graze on our alpine pastures in summer.
We harvest all of the fodder we need for our livestock over winter from our own farm in summer. The haymaking usually begins at the end of May with the first crop. We mow our meadows three times, dry the hay using our ventilation system in the barn and store it there.
All this is possible because our cattle and sheep spend the summer (from the end of May till early September) up on Scharreralm in Hohe Tauern National Park.
Our alpine dairy workers take over the milking while the cattle are there.

Georg’s parents are also a great help. Granny Rosa’s great love is her large herb and vegetable garden. She keeps us supplied with all kinds of vegetables and boosts our immune systems with a wide range of herbal teas.
We heat our farmhouse and holiday home with wood chips (renewable energy). The wood comes from our own forest, is dried and then processed into chips on the farm using a chipper.
